4 Tastiest Homemade Coffee Drinks
A hot cup of joe is something most of us enjoy all year round, hot in the colder months and iced when it’s a bit warmer outside. The convenient thing about coffee is that it serves as an extra shot of energy that you can grab anytime you go outside. However, if you’re a true coffee enthusiast, you’ll know that you can make a perfect cup at home. Here are some coffee drink ideas which will make you into your own barista!
Whipped coffee
This Korean coffee delicacy has become viral on Tik Tok last year and here is how to make it at home. Although the original Korean recipe requires a special type of coffee called Dalgona, you can make a second best thing using instant coffee. Add two tablespoons of instant coffee and two tablespoons of hot water into a bowl with some sugar to taste. Mix gently to combine. Next step is to take out your electric mixer and whisk the ingredients until you get to the texture similar to whipped cream. When you’ve whisked it really well, add the whipped goodness into 3/4 cup of milk and you’re done!
The greatest thing about whipped coffee is that you can serve it both hot and cold – it all depends on the milk! If you’re someone who enjoys their coffee cold and strong, we urge you to also check out this recipe for iced americano by Perfect Brew.
Brulee Caramel Coffee
Caramel Lattes are one of Starbucks’ bestsellers so, why not try to make this staple at home? All you need is five ingredients – milk, coffee, brown sugar, whipped cream and the star of the show, caramel sauce. Caramel sauce can be store bought or prepared from scratch, it depends on your wishes and cooking abilities. Stir in milk, caramel and sugar and have it over medium heat.
Be careful not to have the stove too hot because sugar and caramel are easily burned which may spoil the creamy taste. Heat it for five minutes, until froth starts to form. When it’s all done, add it to your coffee. Top the drink off with some whipped cream and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce for decoration and added flavour.
Pumpkin Spice Affogato
Pumpkin spiced everything is a staple for fall. This drink will combine the wonders of both summer and fall – ice cream and pumpkin spice, and it is so easy to make at home! Firstly, you will need some brewed coffee or make a shot with your espresso machine.
The main ingredient to any affogato, apart from coffee, is ice cream. Add three scoops of ice cream to your cup, any flavour you like will work but we recommend vanilla or pumpkin spice if you can get your hands on it. When your scoops are ready pour some coffee over it, half a cup or a full cup depending on how caffeinated you like your ice cream. Now for the fun part: drizzle some caramel sauce on the ice cream and top it all off with pumpkin spice. This coffee drink recipe is perfect for those early fall mornings when the summer heat still remains.
White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha
This combo of white chocolate and peppermint will make you wish that the holiday season would come faster! Thankfully, you can enjoy this drink whenever you want if you master this recipe. Add some white chocolate chips into a mug and pour ½ cups of hot coffee over them. Stir until the chocolate dissolves. Add in the peppermint extract or syrup and coffee creamer to taste.
If you like a more authentic flavour use real peppermint extract rather than syrup. Top it all off with some whipped cream. You can decorate it with some more white chocolate chips. For the extra Christmassy feel, serve the coffee in your favourite holiday mug.
