Cannabis-Infused S’Mores recipe

Where it all began

The history of the S’More is maybe more recent then one might think. First debuted by the Girl Scouts in 1925, the original recipe name was - you’ve guessed it - ‘Some Mores’. The combination of marshmallow, chocolate, and Graham cracker only being made possible with the addition of honey to the Graham cracker in 1925 seeing its rise in popularity across the USA.

Equally, whilst versions of both chocolate and the marshmallow have been available in some form since ancient times, it wasn’t until the 19th century that we would recognize them as something similarly on offer to us today. Originating in Europe, the marshmallow had been invented by the French in the early 1800s, but it wasn’t until the latter half of the century that the switch from sap to gelatin made the product mass-producible and affordable for the average American.

How then is the average S’More holding up in the 21st century? With the rising popularity of THC infused food, the ordinary S’more is making headway as an after-dinner treat with a little something extra for those inclined.

It’s important you decarboxylate or ‘decarb’ your weed through baking to activate the psychoactive properties of the THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. Do not skip this process!

What you’ll need

  • ½ ounce of ‘decarbed’ weed
  • ½ cup of water
  • 8 ounces butter or oil
  • A drop of your preferred terpene (optional – we went for apple fritter terps)

Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 220° F.
  2. Grind or cut the weed until it is at joint-rolling consistency and spread across a glass or metal sheet baking pan.
  3. Place in the center of the over and stir roughly every 10 minutes until it turns a deep brown/green color - making sure not to burn.
  4. Separately in a saucepan, on very low heat, add the water and butter together with the decarbed weed once the butter has melted.
  5. Let simmer for four hours, stirring every half an hour. Then strain and let cool until room temperature again.

What you’ll need

  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • 2 Tbsp Infused Butter (20mg THC)
  • Graham crackers
  • Marshmallows

Recipe

  1. Melt the chocolate milk and THC infused butter together in a saucepan on low heat and allow it to cool overnight.
  2. Roast the marshmallow and sandwich with an average serving size of chocolate between two Graham crackers.
  3. Enjoy!
